Book review: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir :@book:

I enjoy reading and read a few books each year. I always thought I should write down my impressions and take-away when I finish a book. This is my first attempt at doing so.

Review / Impressions

I very much enjoy Andy Weir’ books. They are both engaging and amusing at the same time. It’s rare that I laugh while reading, but Andy’s writing style gets a few chuckles out of me.

Andy has three main sci-fi novels: The Martian, Artemis and Project Hail Mary. Project Hail Mary is closer to The Martian than it is to Artemis. It is less action-packed than Artemis (from what I remember, I read it a while ago), but it’s far from dull!

The protagonist, Dr. Grace, is mostly alone, in space. You get to spend a lot of time in his thoughts. And like Mark Watney in The Martian, Dr. Grace is quick-witted and funny. You do not get bored in his head!

Project Hail Mary is a feel-good book. It’s easy to read, the writing is very pleasant. It is also a very accessible science-fiction story, a perfect introductory novel into the genre if you are not a sci-fi aficionado.

I am yet to watch the movie; but I am sure it is entertaining.

I would recommend the book to anyone. It was a pleasure to read, highly entertaining.
